We are creators, artists, coders and engineers and we want to share our knowledge with the next generation!
Codename: BOTS is a collaboration between Be Greater Than Average and Electric Playhouse and is a variety of weeklong Science and Technology camps culminating with team-based challenges at the end of the week. Students can register for both a morning and afternoon session, with an hour play break between*, or a single morning or afternoon session.
Intro to Robotics (ages 6-11) June 27th – July 1st, 1pm – 4pm
This is an introduction to robotics where students will explore logic using LEGO Meeperbots, Spheros and other robots. Team, competitions and more will engage students and ensure they can think like a robot. STEM concepts including thinking scientifically, using the engineering design process and problem-solving will be experienced in camp.
3D CAD (ages 11-17) June 27th – July 1st, 1pm – 4pm
Learners will be introduced to Computer Aided Design (CAD) and specifically the powerful modeling software, DSS Solidworks.
Solidworks is the premier CAD modeling tool used by professional engineers. Students will have the opportunity to create and draw in 3D design, learn tips and solutions to common difficulties, how to simulate their product virtually and what it takes to print their model with a 3D Printer using additive manufacturing! Solidworks skills have real-world career implications that will help young engineers and designers become leaders in innovation and find rapid career success before they graduate high school if they choose!
Every student will leave with a Solidworks license, software valued at over $1,000. This class requires a computer and campers must download the Solidworks program prior to class start. Be warned the download will take hours and a lot of space on your computer. The program is not currently able to be installed on Apple computers.
Robotics (ages 11-17) July 25th – July 29th, 9am – 12pm
This is an accelerated introduction to robotics where students are tasked with designing, building and programming a robot to play with other teams in a game-based engineering challenge. STEM concepts including thinking scientifically, using the engineering design process and problem-solving will be experienced in camp. In addition, students will test their ideas and learn lifelong skills in teamwork, leadership, communications and more.
3D Printing (ages 11-17) June 27th – July 1st, 9am – 12pm; July 25th – July 29th, 1pm – 4pm
Build a 3D Printer and learn to care for it and use it effectively.
Students will discover the basics of 3D printing while they guided through building their very own Ender 3 Pro 3D printer at home! Students will be introduced to CAD software and learn how to find and print models in freeware. 3D printing is an emerging technology and students will learn everything it takes to have an idea, design it and print it as well as how to troubleshoot and maintain their very own additive manufacturing machine. Students will be guided by an online mentor “face-to-face” during class time with additional online office hours as needed.
NOTE: We require the printer to be purchased through us unless other arrangements are made. We provide additional supplies to each of the printers. If you require the purchase of an additional class WITH OUT a printer (for example: siblings) then please contact us for additional options.
E-Sports (ages 11-17) June 27th – July 1st, 1pm – 4pm
Our E-sports camp is a gateway to connect students with STEM learning, develop positive relationships and strengthen self-regulation. The mix of game play on various platforms and out-of-game learning is designed to immerse students in strategic game play, the technology and the hardware through teamwork and communication. Students will learn how to develop leadership skills and unlock their potential as they play, learn to stream, and experience competition through gaming in the Electric Playhouse. Join Be Greater staff to learn from one of the best E-Sport educators and author, high energy instructor Dr. Miles Harvey.
STEAM Discovery (ages 6-11) June 27th – July 1st, 9am – 12pm; July 25th – July 29th, 9am – 12pm
